    Extreme Heat Advisory – Cooling Center Open
    Due to the forecasted extreme heat, the Village of Sleepy Hollow will open a cooling center at the Sleepy Hollow Senior Center, located at 55 Elm Street.
    The cooling center will be open:

    • Wednesday, July 1: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
    • Thursday, July 2: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
    • Friday, July 3: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

    Residents who need relief from the heat are encouraged to take advantage of this resource. Please stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during the hottest parts of the day, and check on elderly neighbors, family members, and others who may be vulnerable to extreme temperatures.

    Free Admission to July 18 Sleepy Hollow Mermaid Festival for Village Residents

    Advance Pick-Up of Admission Bracelets Required

     

    The Sleepy Hollow Mermaid Festival returns to Kingsland Point Park on Saturday, July 18! This year, festival admission is $10 for adults, with free admission for children under 10.

    In partnership with the Village of Sleepy Hollow, all Sleepy Hollow residents are eligible for free admission by picking up bracelets in advance.

    Bracelet distribution begins July 1 at the specific locations listed below. Everyone without bracelets will be charged to enter on July 18, so be sure to plan ahead! Get up to 2 resident bracelets per household (children under 10 do not need tickets) at the following locations:

    • Monday - Friday July 1-17, 9am - 2pm at the Sleepy Hollow Senior Center (55 Elm Street). Note: closed on Friday, July 3
    • Saturdays July 4 and July 11 from 9am - 1pm: Sleepy Hollow Bookshop (95 Beekman Avenue)
    • Sundays July 5 and July 12, 12pm-3pm: The Village Confectionery (95 Beekman Avenue)

    Warner Library at 121 North Broadway, is open daily during the following hours:

    ·        Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

    ·        Thursday 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.

    ·        Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    ·        Saturday the Library is closed on the 4th of July.

    ·        Sundays during the summer the library is closed.

    The Tarrytown Recreation Center at 238 West Main Street is open during the following hours:

    ·        Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

    ·        Saturday the 4th of July from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

    ·        Sunday July 5th from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

    We encourage everyone to limit your physical activity and stay hydrated to prevent dehydration and heatstroke.

    Summer Covers: The Muscle & Push For Heat

    Friday, July 10 | 7 pm - 10 pm

    Get ready for a night of nonstop music, dancing, and pure fun at The Ark Theater! We’re bringing together two incredible cover bands for an evening packed with crowd favorites, singalong anthems, and dance-floor hits. Grab your friends, hit the bar, and dance the night away!

    The Muscle is a popular Rivertowns rock and cover band featuring local Westchester musicians Francis O’Shea, Mike Zakarin, Josh Rosenblum, Dan Blumberg, and Dan Weiss. They are best known in Irvington, NY for their nostalgic 90s sets, including their highly acclaimed tributes to Brit-rock, 90s alternative, and celebrated tributes to Oasis & The Strokes.

    Push For Heat are five Hastings residents who started a band in 2018 with the goal of casually playing their favorite songs from their youth. What started as a dad band with a couple of guitars and a drum kit, turned into a dad AND mom band with probably more gear than a Guitar Center. If you’re into indie rock, grunge, new wave, Brit pop from the best music decades ever (80s, 90s, and 00s, of course, duh) then Push for Heat is the band you need in your life.

    Mobile Shredder in Sleepy Hollow

    July 11 from 10:00am – 1:00pm

    The Westchester County Mobile Services Truck will visit Sleepy Hollow on Saturday, July 11th from 10am to 1pm. The truck will be stationed at the Municipal Parking Lot across from Village Hall. This is an opportunity to have sensitive papers that you no longer need securely shredded at no charge. Please be sure to remove all binders and clips from materials to be shredded.

     

    Shredding personal documents serves a double purpose-- to recycle paper as well as protecting sensitive information against identity theft. Westchester residents can bring up to four file-sized (10”x12”x15”) boxes of confidential papers per household. Papers from businesses, institutions, or commercial enterprises are not acceptable and will be rejected, as will any junk mail or newspapers.
