    Historical Society Strawberry Festival!

    12:00 pm – 3:00 pm
    June 14, 2026

The Historical Society, Inc. Serving Sleepy Hollow & Tarrytown is celebrating its 59th Annual Strawberry Festival on Sunday, June 14, 2026. The event is rain or shine, from 12 to 3 pm on the lawn of the 1848 Jacob Odell House, One Grove Street, Tarrytown.

The Historical Society will serve traditional homemade strawberry shortcakes with freshly whipped cream, along with ice cream, lemonade, and iced tea. We are kicking off our celebration of "America at 250" with our new exhibit, The Stories Flags Tell. This special installation explores the evolution of the American flag from the Revolutionary War to today, alongside a collection of state, village, and local institutional flags that reflect the stories and pride of our community.

Younger visitors can join in the fun with hands-on activities throughout the day, including designing their own flags, coloring, and games. All ages will enjoy the local musicians in the garden.

Tickets are $10 apiece at the door. Checks, cash, and online payments accepted. As one of our important annual fundraisers, the festival supports The Historical Society’s mission to preserve the history of our area and sustain our educational programs year-round.

The Word at 250 - Hudson Valley Writers Center!

    5:00 pm
    June 18, 2026

On June 18, join the Hudson Valley Writers Center, in-person or via livestream, for an epic celebration of language, community, and the power of narrative.

As America marks 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, what are the stories that we have told over generations? What stories do we still have left to tell–in large and small communities across this country? Who gets to tell and write those stories, and ensure they do not disappear? On June 18, join the Hudson Valley Writers Center, in-person or via livestream, for an epic celebration of language, community, and the power of narrative. Whether you come for five minutes, or for 250, we will be reading poetry and prose, playing music, excavating old stories and championing new voices. Together, let’s create The Word at 250.

Pedro Infante: Cien Años Pienso en Ti

    A play by Toby Campion

    Directed by Germán Jaramillo

Doña Pancha, a Mexican grandmother living with her family in the United States, longs so deeply for her homeland that she has tried more than once to slip away from home and make the journey back to Mexico. In desperation, she calls on the saints for help, including her idol, the beloved singer and actor Pedro Infante. To her surprise, Don Pedro appears before her, on the very day her granddaughter is facing a heartbreak brought on by her boyfriend’s deportation. Who will help whom? The play offers a new interpretation of what it means to live “on the other side.”

A one-act adaptation that examines the immigration crisis from both a personal and spiritual angle, and part of the trilogy Entre Dos Mundos, a celebration of Latin American culture and the resilience of the human spirit.

We accept items for all members of the family, including shoes, jewelry, toiletries, and handbags. When packing up your donations, please keep these tips in mind:

➡️ Remember: if you wouldn’t give it to a friend, please don’t give it to us. ⬅️

    Donations we especially LIKE/NEED:

✅ Size XS, Small, and Medium men’s clothes, and men’s shoes sizes 5-8

✅ Women’s shoes size 6.5 and smaller are in demand

✅ We always need sneakers for all ages. (Please wash them first, if possible.)

    ✅ Teen boy pants

✅ Our clients love Sleepy Hollow spirit wear!

✅ New socks in packaging (check out our Amazon wishlist)

✅ Reading glasses. These change some people’s lives in seconds.

✅ We accept purses, handbags, backpacks, and duffels if they are in very good condition.

✅ Costume jewelry and accessory scarves are very popular.

✅ We take some prom, bridesmaid, and quinceanera dresses.

✅ We take XL women’s clothing, but not men’s XL.

✅ We are currently accepting maternity wear.

✅ Unopened toiletries, especially toothpaste and shampoo, are in demand. Donate your hotel goodies or purchase them for us to distribute from our Amazon Wishlist.

✅ We love dresses of all kinds, especially casual ones.

✅ We can currently take some linens and blankets though if we run out of space, we may need to turn away these generous donations.

✅ We can always take towels and have great demand for them.

(Thanks to our partnership with 914Cares, we have a steady supply of period products and diapers to offer our clients.)

    We WON’T accept:

❌ Please do not give us pilled, overly-loved pajamas.

❌ No cleats or sports equipment. Also, no leotards or dance shoes.

    ❌ Used socks

❌ Used underwear, except for bras (we accept bras and lingerie in appealing condition)

    ❌ Hangers

❌ Any torn, stained, dirty, hairy, or smoke-scented item. (Fashionably ripped jeans, though, are welcome!)

➡️ If you bring career clothing, please only bring a few items: we don't need or have room for many suits. ⬅️

❌ Donations brought outside the dates of our scheduled donation windows.

These lists change as our inventory changes so check back frequently. We update our web pages regularly.

    We LOVE IT when:

You put your donations in multiple bags sorted and labeled by gender and size. Please be prepared to take home anything that doesn’t meet the criteria on this page. We simply don’t have the person power or the space to manage the excess.

Sorting your donation into categories makes it easier (and quicker) to get your stuff out into the world again!

    Thank you!
